The First Congress of Critical Thinking and Muralism was inscribed in the context of the 100 years of Mexican muralism (2022). It was held on December 8 and 9 at the Gertrudis Bocanegra Public Library in Pátzcuaro Michoacán, which contains the mural Historia de Michoacán (1942), one of the most outstanding works of Juan O’Gorman’s career.

Its objective was to generate an annual space for critical reflection through the convergence of institutional or independent research, seeking to broaden the category of muralism. It was accompanied by the creation of a specialized collection of Mexican-Latin American painting and muralism with free access for the benefit of the Library’s users.
