Juan O’Gorman and his cave-house. Notes for a reconstruction. Documental exhibit is dedicated to the indispensable historian and extraordinarily smart art critic Ida Rodríguez Prampolini (1925-2017) to whom we owe to a large extent the preservation and dissemination of the critical fortune of Juan O’Gorman. She was also one of the few critical voices that evidenced at the time the destruction of the cave-house with clear knowledge of what this meant for the history of the creative future of México.
Divided in five sections, Juan O’Gorman and his cave-house. Notes for a reconstruction. Documental exhibit offered to the visitors a trail through a conceptual space that answered to specific questions. This being the first of them: Who was Juan O’Gorman, and parting from that, what is Organic Architecture, what is and was Mexico’s participation in Organic Architecture, which were Juan O’Gorman’s technical and creative solutions in Organic Architecture, what is Juan O’Gorman’s cave-house, how to understand the existence of the cave-house in Juan O’Gorman’s creative career and how was a cave made of pure rock inhabited in the middle of the 20th century.
