Holds a PhD in History from UNAM with Honorable Mention (2010). He studied architecture at UAM-Xochimilco. In 2003 to 2007 he was the Director of Architecture and Conservation of Immovable Artistic Heritage, and Deputy Director General of Heritage (2012 to 2018), both agencies of INBA. He has been an honorary member of the National Academy of Architecture since 2006. Since April 2021 he is the Editorial Coordinator of the Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM, which he combines with his research activity. He published several books and articles of History and Architecture.
Xavier Guzmán Urbiola es Doctor en Historia por la UNAM con Mención Honorífica (2010). Hizo estudios de arquitectura en la UAM-Xochimilco. Fue Director de Arquitectura y Conservación del Patrimonio Artístico Inmueble (2003 a 2007), y Subdirector General de Patrimonio (2012 a 2018), ambas dependencias del INBA. Miembro honorario de la Academia Nacional de Arquitectura desde 2006. A partir de abril de 2021 es el Coordinador editorial de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la UNAM, lo cual combina con su actividad de investigador. Ha publicado diversos libros y artículos sobre temas de Historia y Arquitectura.
